A Clareview Saunter – Riding the River Valley
October 15, 2017 @ 10:00 - 14:00
How about a leisurely ride from Clareview to … well somewhere and back. That is the plan. We will leave from Clareview, pick up the bike trail due East and ride along the famed river valley. Our working destination is the Quesnell Bridge and then back again.
This ride will be unique in that it will start off slow and then pick up steam. Twice we will stop at Grandin Government Centre LRT station: riding west towards Quenell and then riding east back towards Clareview. Slower riders will be encouraged to drop off at these two points and train it back to Clareview as the pace will definitely increase after each stop. Please remember to bring change ($3.25) for the fare. Bicycles are permitted all day on the LRT.
And now a word from our caution-sponsor. The river valley has a number of climbs that have a grade of 10% or more. We will ride as a beginner ride to Government Centre and then a low-intermediate ride to the Quesnell Bridge and back to the Government Centre LRT station. From there, it will be a full on intermediate ride meaning that you have good route finding skills and are comfortable at riding at a moderate pace safe for the bike trails. Having said that, this ride is as much about enjoying the river valley, changing leaves… and the occasional killer climb.
Pack snacks, fluids, etc. for the day. We will snack en route but generally not stop until back at Clareview.
