The Executive is so stoked about the club’s 40th anniversary year that we can’t wait until 2018 to start celebrating. Please join us on December 3 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Highlands Community Centre* to reconnect with your EBTC friends. There will be hot chocolate and a hot mulled apple drink along with some nibbles for everyone to enjoy. We’ll be show casing the 40th Anniversary Jersey and Buff at this event. A jersey sizing kit will be on hand to help you order the correct size. The jersey is $45 and buff $8 for members.
There’s more! We’ll be raffling 12 bottles of wine at this event valued at $305; tickets $2 each or 3 for $5. The draw will be at 4:30 pm. Proceeds of the raffle will go towards covering costs of the event.
Anyone who wants to join Greg for a ride:
We’ll meet at the Highlands Community League in time to start rolling at 12pm. We’ll head into the river valley from there so there’s about 2 km of road riding. The route will be a flexible combination of road, snow, deeper snow (keep fat bikers happy), packed snow, ice, pavement trails, some hills, stairs, non-technical single track, and probably getting a tiny bit lost. Should easily be under 25 km as we have to get back by 2pm. I rode the route at night scaring coyotes, druggies, and myself so this’ll be my first time actually seeing the route too. Chubby and fat bikes will have no problem and I suspect mountain bikes won’t either. Studs will probably help in some places but I’m sorry for the pavement parts, a consequence of this abominable warm weather. Skinny tired bikes like cyclocross might be able to do much of it, even if they avoid the snowier parts and stick to paved trails. They probably should have studded tires though. Bring snacks, decent footwear, water, sense of humour, and repair kit (at least a spare tube). This is a club ride so we’re wearing helmets and taking names!
NOTE: A box for your Edmonton Food Bank donations will be available at the door. Let’s beat the 60 kgs that was collected at the Elk Island Ride this past summer!
