Ride Descriptions:TRAIL RIDE – Bring a mountain or fat bike (it’s likely a bit too punishing for Cx & hybrids), and we’ll ride around Oster & Tawayik Lakes. Last time this took us about 2.5 hours, just about exactly the same time as the road ride. It’s very scenic, with everything from birds, bees, bison, and trees to see. Bring a camera!
ROAD RIDE: The road into Tawayik Picnic Area has been paved so is amazing for road bikes; quite an improvement over last year! Join us on a gorgeous 53 km route through the park, heading west onto 544 (all good pavement), and returning to Elk Island Park. If you don’t want to do 53 km, you can turn around at any point. Maps will be available or go to Ride with GPS.
Bikes: Mountain, Fat, Hybrid, Ebike
Departure time: Meet at 6:15; depart at 6:30
Riding conditions: The ride leader will be at the planned starting point rain or shine, except in case of personal emergency. Rides will only be cancelled if lightning is present or imminent at ride start time.
Thursday Trail Rides will explore both paved and comfortable unpaved trails of the river valley area. Each week will start in a unique location to be posted on the website. As the season progresses, riders can expect additional hills and increased distances.
